Some Gripping Facts about the Spanish National Lottery Game Lotto

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

On December 2008 eLottery brought the Spanish lottery to its product range, granting players globally a vastly improved chance of sharing in this whopping Spanish lotto prize fund.

If this is the first time you have come across the Spanish Lotto, allow me to highlight just how important this lotto is to the vast majority of the Spanish population. The Spanish lottery has been a national obsession in Spain for a long time with massive involvement generated by the Christmas lottery draw every year. Its a fact that 98% of the population play this Spanish National lotto each Christmas.

There are a few central reasons why lots of Spanish subjects join in the Christmas El Gordo lotto draw.

First Of All, on that point is the incentive of the biggest lottery prize fund of any world-wide lotto game – 2.20 Billion Euros! Secondly, there are in excess of thirteen thousand cash prizes to be won. Finally, the probability of collecting a cash prize in the Christmas lotto draw are a extremely attainable – one : six.

With the measure of interest that is dedicated to the Christmas Elgordo lottery draw, a great deal of individuals are unaware that there is 5 extra Spanish Lottery draws every year as well. These games occur in May, July, January and November and March. Despite the fact that these five games do not boast the gigantic prize fund of the Christmas draw, they are large all the same, ranging from seventy eight million Euros to six hundred & sixty six million Euros. In addition, these lottery games offer virtually 3 times as many prizes as the Christmas lotto draw plus odds of picking up a cash prize of an splendid one : three.

The Christmas Spanish Lottery works in a different way to virtually all other world drawings. A whole ticket ‘billete’ is very costly, costing two hundred Euros. However, these lottery tickets are broken up into 10 ‘decimos’ (tenths) costing twenty Euros each.

When buying your tickets you have the option of purchasing 1 decimo, a complete ticket, or a part of a lotto ticket. If you do not buy the entire lottery ticket, someone else will buy the remainder of your lotto ticket. For Instance, if you purchase two decimos, someone else purchases 3 decimos and somebody else purchases 5 and your ticket wins 1000 Euros, and then you will receive two hundred Euros, three hundred Euros and five hundred Euros respectively. Owing to the expense of buying a full lotto ticket, it is not unusual for families and friends to amalgamate their lotto cash and each buy a separate ‘decimo’ (tenth).

A Bad Night in Vegas: A Boxing Story

Monday, March 9th, 2009

His name was Javier Ayala and he was from Los Angeles by way of Tijuana. He had once gone ten rounds with the great Roberto Duran in 1973 in Los Angeles and also went the distance with Leroy Haley. But on this night at the Silver Slipper in Las Vegas, his main event opponent was Bruce Finch whose claim to fame would be that after his 3rd round TKO loss to Sugar Ray Leonard in1982 in Reno, Leonard would have surgery to repair a detached retina.

Coming into the Finch fight, Javier had lost six straight including ones to the very capable Jerry “Schoolboy” Cheatham and Dujuan Johnson as well as to rugged Lou Bizzarro. Arguably, he had become a gate through which prospects must get through before going to the next level.

I was visiting my brother at the time (I had been on assignment in nearby Phoenix and flew in for some R and R), but on this particular July night in 1980 I was alone. After several hours of Black Jack at Bally’s and dinner at Kathy’s Southern Cooking restaurant, I pursued my real interest of the evening which was to watch a young lightweight prospect out of Youngstown, Ohio by the name of Ray “Boom Boom” Manicini. He had won ten in a row and was on the undercard in a eight-rounder against one Leon Smith whom he blew away in the first round with several unanswered body shots to Smith’s liver that you could hear throughout the hall…………I was on the aisle near ringside and they sounded like muffled bombs. I was most impressed and anything else on this particular boxing night would simply be icing on the cake.

Chris Schwenke fought his first pro fight and won a four-round UD over Bill Fallow. He would then go on a 14 fight win streak. There was an uneventful 6-rounder before the Finch-Ayala bout between Danny Sanders and Irish Pat Coffey which Danny won by TKO in the last round. At that point, there was a brief intermission and I remember this young boy of about 9 or 10 years old who then appeared and was standing just to the rear of my seat. I asked him his name and he said he was Javier Ayala’s son. He was very shy and humble. We had a nice exchange and I said I hoped his father would do well. As the fighters walked to the ring, I noticed Javier reach over to pat his son on the shoulder and give him a smile and wink. The fighters were then introduced amidst the usual fanfare and the crowd readied for the main event.

Finch, from Milwaukee, had lost only three fights coming in and these were to the very capable Tommy Hearns, Larry Bonds, and Pete Ranzany. He had won 21 and was touted as having lot’s of pop in his punches. The much younger Finch looked to be in excellent welterweight shape, while Ayala, at age 37, looked just a bit shop worn.

As I torched up my Cuesto Rey……….thankfully, there was no political correctness back in 1980, particularly in a gambling casino……….the fighters received their instructions touched gloves, the bell rang and the fight began. The first two rounds were mostly cat and mouse with both fighters feeling each other out and getting in a few decent shots. Finch threw some neat combinations and seemed to have taken control by the end of round two. In the third round is when it happened. Both fighters were coming out of a clinch and as they set themselves, Ayala moved forward to throw a telegraphed looping right. Finch got there first unleashing a short and vicious right uppercut which hit Ayala at the point of his chin. You could hear the blow back in the gambling area.

Ayala hit the canvas as if he had been hit with a ten gauge shotgun……..and that’s when what started out to be a pleasant evening of manly fun became something else. As he landed on his back, his body hit before his head which then whip sawed onto the canvas. He stayed down as his only handler hovered over him and as ringside officials and the referee quickly went to revive him. He was unconscious and stayed that way for between 15 and 20 minutes without so much as moving a limb. A stretcher was being readied, the crowd was hushed, and a genuine sense of concern permeated. Everyone feared the worse. Finch, while elated with his one punch victory, was visibly concerned. While this was all going on, I glanced over at his son standing in the rear area and I’ll never forget the look on his face or the tears in his eyes. I went over to him, put my arm around him and said “don’t worry, your father will be fine.” He was shaking all over and it was all I could do to keep myself composed.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Javier Ayala arose to scattered applause, but their was palpable relief as well. He left the ring under his own power, albeit unsteadily, and seemed okay. As he was heading for the dressing room, he stopped and took his son’s hand in his own and they both disappeared from sight as they went into the room. The word that best descibes what I witnessed at that moment was pathos……..my overwhelming emotion was one of sympathy and pity.

I never found out exactly what happened to Ayala but I do know that was his last fight. He would finish with a record of 21 wins, 24 losses, and 1 draw. Where he is today or where his son might be remain mysteries that I just as soon not solve. My connection with Javier Ayala has remained deliberately unresolved.

As for Bruce Finch, he would go on to win eleven in a row before being stopped by Sugar Ray in 1982. He would then lose six of his next seven fights before retiring in 1985.

To this day, when I get giddy over some fight or engage in a heated argument over boxing in general and need a reality check, I always think back to that bad night in Vegas………one that would leave me with indelible memories. “In no other sport is the connection between performer and observer so intimate, so frequently painful, so unresolved.” – Joyce Carol Oates

A Rant On Various Sports Related Subjects

Monday, March 9th, 2009

This week’s editorial focuses on 3 sports related subjects. It’s a ranting and raving on those subjects. I will try to make this a weekly column going forward. I hope you enjoy it.

NHL IN OUTDOOR LIVING STYLE

The Gary Bettman’s project took a bad turn this year as ESPN stopped covering NHL hockey. I guess ESPN finally woke up to the fact that the NHL isn’t popular anymore and didn’t want to pay outrageous fees for a melted down product.

With player salaries through the roof, the only way for the NHL to pay their hacks (AKA hockey players) is to form outrageous relationships with TV networks.

Through the first round of playoffs the only network covering NHL hockey on a regular basis was OLN. NBC covers games on weekends.

OLN? That’s a real laugh. Talking about taking a step backwards as far as exposure goes. The NHL has become a third tier sport as far as television audience is concerned. The NHL remains a Canadian sport as far as loyalty to the sport and as far as television ratings is concerned.

Bettman should take all the blame for the poor television ratings. It was his grandiose plan to take the NHL to the sunbelt, all in the hopes of greater television revenue. While it lasted about ten years as the critics had predicted, Bentman’s plan is starting to unravel.

The one thing we can all bet on is that Bettman is not fit to run the NHL.

KOBE OR SHAQ?

While Kobe can get a gazillion points a game, can he lead his team to victory? Sadly the answer is no. This was proven last weekend when his LA Lakers blew a 3-1 series lead and was blown away by the Phoenix Suns in the final game of their opening round series.

Shaq on the other hand led his Miami Heat into the second round. Shaq is a dominant player, the guy I would want to build a championship team around.

I laughed when the so called experts were saying that it shows that LA made the right decision when they decided to keep Bryant over O’Neal. That was when the Lakers were up 3-1. Where are those same experts now?

DODGE BALL TWINKIES STYLE

The Minnesota Twins (Twinkies) are playing dodge ball this season. Instead of hitting the baseball, they seem to be dodging the ball. They can’t win ball games and they’re having a terrible time hitting the ball.

Maybe the Twinkies need to start playing hit the ball instead of dodge the ball. Minnesota pitching also needs to improve if the Twins want to rebound from a terrible start to the season.

We’ll have to see what type of baseball they decide to play through the remainder of the season.

Well that’s it until next week. I will try and write a weekly column ranting and raving on various sports related subjects.

If you have any ideas for subject material, email me at support@itstherightway.com.

Tips to Repair Bad Credit

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Obtaining mortgages and loans along with purchasing on credit all demand that your credit position is affirmative and that you are not a victim of bad credit. A series of debt is encountered by a person with a low credit score as credit businesses will charge a heavy price for their service. Many people today are under the impression that the costly methods of obtaining credit repair service is the sole way to repair bad credit, but with a little exertion many simple and free tips can be used.

The basic step is to find the reason of bad credit. If you can confirm the reason of your bad credit status, only then can you rectify your status. Unforeseeable
dilemmas such as job loss, funeral or hospital bills, etc can be the major reasons of bad credit.

After that, a workable solution can be distinguished by going to the bottom of the difficulty. Your credit reports can keep you aware of your up-to-date debts, credits and financial activities. Beforehand knowledge of your financial position can trigger your future stability which is why yearly credit reports should be used.
Furthermore, the up-to-date credit actions can be tracked by keeping a record of all the updated reports.

Classify and maintain your bills.Lower your credit card use and do not postpone your expenses.
You will realize that a credit score can be reached and your goodwill with your creditors will become favorable. If you are unable to withstand the need of using credit cards then think back over the lives of early people which were happier without credit cards. Last minute bill payments are also a explanation for plunging into bad credit as numerous people have suffered a surcharge because of a delay in the credit process. Repair bad credit by encouraging constancy in your payments.

It’s recommended to use the direct style with your creditors and negotiate with them. Favorable discounts can be achieved by a competent discussion. Strong resolutions can attain your targets when talking to your creditors.

All such situations which can pose a danger to your credit profile should be avoided to keep you from getting a bad credit score. Bad credit can be damaging to your standing in society which is why it is suggested to employ the procedures outlined above.
Bad credit not only lays obstacles in your way of getting a worthy job but also extend problems in getting loans or in the purchase of a luxury. Prompt action to repair bad credit can ensure that your credit profile is secure and unharmed even after falling prey to bad credit.

Tennis Makeover in 20 Minutes a Week – Part 2

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Part II

1. Consistency – (we covered this in Part I)

2. Depth – this is a more advanced version of the above where you aim to keep as many balls in a row in, except this time the ball must land in the back half of the court. If it lands inside the service box then treat it as “out” and start scoring again from zero.

Be as strict on yourself with your line calls as you would be in a match. The key to improving is to be totally honest. If the ball is out, it is out. Start again and seek to improve. Kidding yourself with dodgy line calls just so you can write down a new record will get you nowhere. When you truly beat your old record you will know it. That is where the power of these exercises comes into play.

You need to develop your self-image. You need to know within yourself that you are getting better. That your consistency and depth is improving. You can only achieve this through integrity to your own tennis game.

3. Placement – using the same highest count, create games for yourself and your opponent where placement to a particular side of the court is the goal. Once again, treat the ball as out if it lands in the wrong half of the court.

Use crosscourt forehands and record your highest number in a row. Then go to the backhand and do the crosscourt exercise again. You can also do down the line ground strokes as well.

Advanced Placement

As skill levels increase you can have one person hit down the line whilst the other player goes crosscourt so you get the side to side movement from both players. Record your highest record and then switch so you get to experience and develop both sides of your game. I can honestly say that this exercise is the one I always aim to be doing well as I approach a tournament.

The mental toughness this exercise builds is brilliant. It simulates match play along with the pressure of recording a personal best. If you have enough pride in your game to take this seriously and push yourself to be your best then you will get the most out of this.

4. Rally speed (Power) – this exercise is a measure of the time it takes for you to consistently hit 10 balls up and down the court. You need to do this with someone of an equal standard. You rally the same ball back and forth. Do not do this with a coach with ball feeding. It will lose its purpose.

Here’s how it works – the count begins on zero when the first ball hits the strings. As it travels down the court you count every contact on strings from 1 – 10 to determine your rally speed (5 shots each). A good level is around 14 seconds. Male Pro’s often rally in the 13’s and have the ability to increase that into the 12’s. The key to this exercise is how consistently you can maintain your level of speed. I recommend consistency to be at 3 out of 5 rallies making it to 10 in a row (elites 4 out of 5) otherwise you are rallying at a speed you are not consistent enough at yet.

Tip – record the date each time you break your old record so you can look back and see how much you’ve improved. It also becomes useful when looking through your record book and realising you haven’t beaten your PB for a while. Personal incentives to improve are powerful.

In the 3rd and Final Part of this Tennis Makeover Series I will be sharing with you the number we aim to achieve with Pro Players. These numbers can be used as a measuring stick between you and the Pro’s.

Tips On How To Buy A Snow Sled

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

-Making sure that you take the time to pick out a great snow sled and one the suits you best, will make snow sledding an awesome experience.

-Decide what type of terrain and about how often the snow sled will be ridden before purchasing, so you can determine the best snow sled for you and your family. Snow sleds are generally made out of wood, metal, or durable plastic, all of which can be used in the snow. However, depending on the overall construction, a snow sled can definitely vary in quality.

-Snow sleds generally vary in size by inches and it is important to know how tall the kids or adults are who will be riding it. The purchase of your snow sled should vary depending on how tall the largest person is.

-While steering and braking mechanisms may be important on snow sleds for use on steep, busy hills, they are only a nuisance on gentle slopes or snow banks in the backyard. When looking to buy a snow sled consider where you will be riding it to ensure you get the best use out of it.

Snow Sled Maintenance

-Check at screws, bolts and ropes on your snow sled before riding every time to ensure that nothing will come loose while riding.

-Make sure to rinse off any dirt or mud that may be left on your snow sled after a days worth of riding. This will preserve the quality of your snow sled and maintain how slick the bottom of your sled is.

Factories should ensure proper measures for safety of their employees, warns HSE

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

The HSE has issued a word of caution to all factory operators and manufacturers to ensure due compliance of essential safety measures in the factory premises. The warning came after a serious accident at a West Yorkshire factory involving a 47 year old factory worker.

The factory worker was working on an unguarded cutting tool when the accident took place. The sleeve of his overalls got tangled in the machine and his attempts to free himself failed due to faulty brake mechanism, which failed to stop the machine. The worker was later rescued by his fellow workmates. The unfortunate man was badly hurt with his arm damaged permanently. He suffered from a compound fracture, tissue and muscle loss, and damage to nerves.

The incident happened in a factory operated by the company 600 UK Ltd. Ironically, the company itself is a manufacturer of such heavy and dangerous industrial machinery. After a hearing at the Dewsbury Magistrates’ Court, the company was fined a maximum penalty of 20,000 pounds, and was asked to bear the costs amounting to 5,046 pounds. The factory operators were found to be in violation of the Health and safety at work etc. Act 1974.

Health and Safety Inspector, Geoff Fletcher, after the hearing of the case, expressed disbelief at the incident and said that the accident could have been easily prevented by following some basic safety norms.

Accredited nebosh health and safety training courses can help in avoiding serious accidents in the workplace and the penalties imposed. Contact Workplace Law Training to enrol your staff on one of the UK’s most popular health and safety training courses.
