Snowboarding Breaks for the Carbon Minded Snowboarder
Many keen skiers will presently be trying to find their ski equipment and dashing forth hunting for the heaviest snow. And beyond any doubt the result from your carbon footprint will be about as far down the list of holiday essentials as a Christmas tree after Christmas. Just last winter, a late snow made the the tabloids and holidaymakers were panicky about the flecks of snow melting almost as soon as they put down.
Ski business Chalet 1802, placed at the bottom of Monte Bianco in Chamonix in the Alps, is one of the first autonomous businesses to go carbon neutral and give skiers an environmentally friendly choice whilst organising their skiing holidays. Chalet1802 owner Charlyn stated: Last season was quite a surprise with the hottest wintertime in 55 years in the French Alps. Ski skiing areas like Auron, Les Trois Vall©es and La Tania lacked clients. It was balmy and the snow did not last so much of the early winter ski season in the mountains was limited. We decided to go carbon neutral to assist in the preservation the snowboarding resort.
Charlyn said: We are not attempting to dictate to punters but we think it is of import to afford them the choice without increasing the price of the skiing holiday. When the guest book with us and goes to our skiing chalet they may more than off set their carbon footprint and we soak up the other prices. Of course we still have a sauna and a hot tub – people wish for luxuriousness but not at the expense of the surroundings, so we looked at ways of lessening the results of someone flying over here for a skiing holiday.”
Chalet 1802 have moreover partnered with group Climate Care, who attacks global warming by making carbon dioxide deductions for individuals and companies.
