The Goathouse Offer Bed and Breakfast in the Village of Laxton in Nottinghamshire
Friday, July 31st, 2009Laxton is a small village in north Nottinghamshire, dating back to the Norman Conquest of 1066.
Todays visitors can go to the the site of the old castle at the northern edge of the village, and witness the areas best preserved motte and bailey castle.
One can also view the fine looking, and fine looking, church that dates from 1190 and is still regularly used to this day.
Nevertheless, what makes the village truly special is its continued use of the open field farming system.
This is the only open farming system in the UK and you can happily walk the fields yourself or go on a tour with a local, that we will organise if you so wish.
There is an information centre by the Dovecote Inn with lots more information about Laxton.
In the centre of Laxton is the village pub where one can enjoy fantastic value, locally sourced food, as well as friendly villagers who’ll happily tell you a tale.
The Goat House is int he centre of the village and dates back two hundred years.
Having recently been renovated to a very high level, we provide great value for money b and b with a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and one family bathroom. If you would lilke more information about Laxton Bed and Breakfast then visit www.the-goathouse.com.
